Captal ® Amorphous Calcium Phosphate ‘1.67’ is a high-purity, non-crystalline, medical grade product, with a nominal Ca:P ratio of 1.67. Due to the nano-sized crystallites contained within, it is amorphous to X-Rays. The surface area of CAPTAL ® ACP is high (50 – 90 m²/gram), reflecting its porous nature. It is used in applications where further heat processing crystallises the lattice once the powder is formed into the required product. When heated above 900 °C it crystallises to hydroxylapatite and under the correct sintering regime will form fully crystalline HA. CAPTAL® ACP 1.67 is fully ISO 13779-6 compliant material.
CAPTAL® ‘ACP 1.67’ is available with a spherical morphology, with average particle size, d(50), of 15 – 30 μm, or with an angular morphology as granules with a d(50) from 60 μm up to 500 μm. It is sold as a non-sterile powder.
