CAPTAL ® ‘HT’ is a specialised form of our hydroxyapatite powder. Through additional processing steps, HAp powder is densified into micron scale ceramic beads, combining the bioactive nature of the material with improved flowability.
HT microspheres can be manufactured to precise particle size tolerances, making them ideal for applications where flowability and injectability are crucial. These properties ensure smooth injection and minimal clumping, which are key for applications such as injectable therapies or additive manufacturing techniques.
One such injectable application is bioactive dermal fillers, where the improved flowability of the powder ensures smoother injections, reducing patient inflammation. Additionally, the controlled particle size and morphology of the HT microspheres allow for more consistent distribution. The combination of CAPTAL® ‘HT’s morphology and biomimetic composition stimulates the growth of local collagen by mimicking natural bone mineral structures. This effect contributes to the restoration of facial volume producing a longer-lasting filler effect.
HT microspheres are also well suited for HPLC chromatography columns for protein separation due to the presence of both acidic and basic surface binding sites, and bespoke controlled particle size distributions are available on request.
Powder Characteristics
Our Captal ® ‘HT’ hydroxyapatite microspheres are available in two standard particle sizes: Dv(50) < 25 µm and Dv(50) > 50 µm. Our proprietary manufacturing method preserves the HA crystalline lattice, ensuring high phase purity (≥ 95 %) and crystallinity ( > 75 %). With an exceptionally low specific surface area (~ 0.07 m²/g) and true density > 3 g/cm³, Captal® ‘HT’ microspheres outperform conventional spray-dried materials and comply with ISO 13779-6 standards. We also offer customizable post-processing options to meet specific particle performance needs.
